St. Anne's Tree Ornament
Heritage Center - St. Anne's Church Tree Ornament
St. Anne’s church
was built on the 100 block of downtown Calumet in 1900 and served the
French-Canadian Catholic population. The church was deconsecrated in
1966, and the building was allowed to deteriorate until 1994 when it
was purchased by Calumet Township for the purpose of creating a
museum to interpret Calumet’s special and ethnic history.
Today the building is known as the Keweenaw Heritage Center at St
Anne’s.
Each ornament sculpture is framed within a circular laurel wreath that
measures 2 1/2 inches in diameter. The entire ornament measures 31/2 x
31/2 inches. A metal hook is attached to the top through which a ribbon
is threaded. The ornament includes a stand that is suitable for
display. It is eloquently packaged in a black velvet lined 4 ¼ inch
square box. This and subsequent ornaments are “must haves” for those
who love the beautiful historic buildings of downtown Calumet.
